About Stonehaven
Stonehaven is a thriving town of about 12,000
population, on the coast 15 miles south of Aberdeen. The county town of the ancient Sheriffdom of Kincardineshire for 400 years, Stonehaven has a spectacular setting, with a
wide sweeping bay and rocky cliffs to the north and south. One mile to the south of the
town is the magnificent fortress of Dunnottar Castle, perched on a rock above the sea. The
old town of Stonehaven nestles around the picturesque harbour, still busy with fishing
boats and yachts and ever popular with visitors. The tree-lined Market Square in the
centre of the town is dominated by the Market Buildings with its impressive town clock and
spire, and most of the towns main shops are to be found here. The offices of Connons
are in the north-east corner of the Square.

There are a wide range of leisure activities to suit all
ages. Stonehaven Golf Club has a challenging 18 hole cliff top course to the north of the
bay and the Recreation Grounds provide both outdoor and indoor bowling, tennis and
putting. Stonehaven is also famous for its outdoor swimming pool, the only heated open air
pool in Scotland and the centre of attraction during the summer months. There are
excellent schools in the town. The secondary school, Mackie Academy founded in 1893, has a
